The object of the game is to mine resources from planets, while defending yourself against hostile enemies; which include players and NPCs. To provide protection, and advance, you must craft items, weapons and armor from recipes which closely mirror their real world counterparts. Fly to the planets, and procedurally created alien planets, conquer or be conquered. The key to progressing is developing a plan to accrue elements, while not leaving yourself or your home planet vulnerable.

Second Run also added base building which serves as the primary way to unlock new game features during progression.

ClickerThis game provides a somewhat different approach to collecting resource and buying upgrades. The player is represented by a square in the top left portion of the screen inside a platformer display. To collect resources (cubes) the player must stand on the far left section marked as blue. This will produces squares that approach the red rectangle below. As they hit the rectangle, they will be collected. In order to purchase upgrades, the player must collect the marked number in another section of the platformer, then approach that section as the player. This will buy the upgrade. To continue collecting cubes, they must return to the blue section.
