This can lead to the player's characters running away, and removing them from battle.Monsters can now be upgraded to increase the chances of dropping rare items, more gold, more experience, and so on.LootItems that monsters dropped can be applied to characters to improve their abilities. These items are randomly generated and randomly dropped, meaning that many of the items may in fact be worse than the item currently being used. This is circumvented by providing the option of an auto-upgrade button that will automatically select the best items available and apply them to the character.Each character has a specific set of items unique to them. Each item in turn can only be applied to a single adventurer, meaning an item that might be good for one character, cannot be used by another.

IdlerLearn to Fly takes the standard incremental style and adds a more involved method of play. The game requires you to fire snowballs at objects at increasing distances with increasing amounts of health. Each destroyed object provides money that can then be spent on upgrading the cannon. The cannon can either be fired manually by clicking or, once the upgrade is purchased, automatically. The game requires the player to aim the cannon, and once set, the autofire continues to fire at the same angle as the last player initiated shot.ResearchThe player is awarded research points by performing simple tasks in the game. These points add up over time and can be spent on specialised upgrades, such as reducing the space between the player and the object or increasing the speed at which projectiles move. These upgrades cost pixels, which can be collected by removing them from the image with the mouse.
