This opens up the abilities of that particular character, providing a new layer of strategy in the game.MonstersSimilar to the previous game, monsters populate the world and are a way for the player to gain better loot as well as experience. This can lead to the player's characters running away, and removing them from battle.Monsters can now be upgraded to increase the chances of dropping rare items, more gold, more experience, and so on.LootItems that monsters dropped can be applied to characters to improve their abilities. This is circumvented by providing the option of an auto-upgrade button that will automatically select the best items available and apply them to the character.Each character has a specific set of items unique to them. Each item in turn can only be applied to a single adventurer, meaning an item that might be good for one character, cannot be used by another.

The player is represented by a square in the top left portion of the screen inside a platformer display. To collect resources (cubes) the player must stand on the far left section marked as blue. This will produces squares that approach the red rectangle below. As they hit the rectangle, they will be collected. In order to purchase upgrades, the player must collect the marked number in another section of the platformer, then approach that section as the player. This will buy the upgrade. To continue collecting cubes, they must return to the blue section.
