This game is based on an award-wining browser-based text RPG "A Dark Room" by Michael Townsend.
It's exactly the same as the web version but with graphics and sound.

The game requires you to fire snowballs at objects at increasing distances with increasing amounts of health. Each destroyed object provides money that can then be spent on upgrading the cannon. The cannon can either be fired manually by clicking or, once the upgrade is purchased, automatically.
